Honey-Voiced Homeless Man Detained In Hollywood

Ted Williams, the recently un-homeless Ohio man turned internet sensation with a golden-toned radio voice was "briefly detained" by Los Angeles police during an argument with a woman identified as his daughter at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood Monday night. According to officers, the argument occurred around 9:00 p.m. and led to a disturbance report.
Williams and his daughter were transported to the Hollywood police station and released within an hour for the minor disturbance. There were no signs or physical abuse, report authorities, and no arrests were made. Al Battle, Williams' newly acquired manager, declined to comment saying a statement regarding the incident would be issued.
Since an Ohio newspaper posted a video of him last week, Williams has done a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese TV commercial, appeared on a variety of news programs, done voiceover for cable news, and was offered an announcing gig with the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to the LA Times, Williams was in town for several televisions appearances, including Entertainment Tonight and a visit with the Lakers.
53-year-old Williams trained to be a radio announcer but drugs and alcohol halted his career in the 1990s. According to CBS he has served time for theft and forgery and was previously cited with drug abuse misdemeanors. Dealing with sudden fame has been challenging for the more than two-years sober recovering addict. "I wanted a nerve pill yesterday, to be honest with you," he told CBS on Friday.
