Dangerous Chatsworth Intersection Finally Gets a Signal

After his friend Yao Lu was struck by a car while crossing Reseda Boulevard at Vincennes Streat near CSUN, Andreas Lazaris was angry enough to make sure the same fate didn't meet future students trying to cross the street. Lazaris contacted Councilman Greig Smith's office last February about adding a traffic light and as of yesterday, the new signal is in place, according to the Chatsworth Patch.

Smith is glad the traffic signal has been installed and said "This new traffic signal will protect lives. Vehicle, pedestrian and bike traffic along the Reseda corridor near CSUN are so heavy that we must consider the safest possible way for them to cross paths." He added that two of the three traffic lights recently installed in the area have been the result of accidents.

Nearby businesses are equally happy to have a new signal in place. Wayne Adelstein's office faces the busy intersection and he said "there isn't a day that doesn't go by that I or my staff has not heard the screeching of tires."

Plans to install another traffic signal at the intersection of Reseda Boulevard and Dearborn Street are already underway.
