Stray Bullets Fly in Bizarre Pasadena Gunfight, Officer Wounded

crime_scene_blue.jpg A man allegedly opened fire on Pasadena police officers last night after telling them someone was trying to kill him, according to KTLA.

Officers were parked near a Walgreens on East Orange Grove in Pasadena when a man ran up to their car and told them he believed someone was trying to shoot him. Before officers could speak to the man, he got into his car and left the scene. Officers then pursued the man on Lake Ave to East Mountain Street where the man opened fire on the officers. Police returned fire and bullets hit several cars and businesses in the area.

One officer was wounded in the exchange of gunfire and the suspect was taken into custody. There are no reports of other injuries to people in the area. It is unclear why the man believed someone was pursuing him with the intent to shoot him and why he then opened fire on officers shortly after telling them he feared for his life.
