Downtown Eateries to Defend Your Droid?
Theft of electronic devices in downtown L.A. increases dramatically during the holidays and the LAPD is enlisting your favorite servers and bartenders to help you keep your cell safe, according to the LA Times.
Police Lt. Paul Vernon is asking that servers at downtown eateries, bars and clubs keep a close eye on stray cell phones, cameras and other mobile devices that patrons may leave unattended while enjoying dinner and drinks out.
Whether or not servers will comply with the request is unknown, given that the holidays are an an unusually busy time for them already. Should it really be their responsibility to make sure you don't lose your gadgets? We're not sure, but the next time you hear a server uttering the recommended LAPD phrase "Watch your phone," thank them. They are busy enough making sure your poutine is perfect and your mojito is merry.
