Could Cooley Come Back For a 4th Term as LA County DA?

Still licking his wounds from losing the race to be California's next Attorney General, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley (R) spoke in public yesterday for the first time since the election was called for his rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, reports the Daily News.

During his press conference, Cooley acknowledged Harris' victory, and continued to defend his campaign, calling it "the hardest thing I have ever done."

Cooley also said that he doesn't intend to seek a state-level office in the future, but that he is considering running for a fourth term as DA in 2012, depending on who else enters the race: "If I think the person looking to succeed me isn't qualified, I will seek a fourth term. I know there are a lot of people out there, ambitious politicians, who would love to have this job. But if I think they will hurt this office, I will run." In the AG race, LA County's voters rejected Cooley in favor of Harris. Will they vote him in for a fourth time as DA?
