Woman Finds 9-Foot Snake Under Her Car in Store Parking Lot

Talk about a surprise: A woman returned to her car after shopping in a Lancaster grocery store to find a 9-foot snake slithering beneath the vehicle, according to ABC7.

The snake, a Columbian red tail boa constrictor, was actually coiled around the car's engine. Animal Control "poured cooking oil on the thick snake hoping to loosen its hold on the engine of the car," and it took about half an hour to wrangle the large snake free.

Experts believe that the snake is a pet that got loose, since "boa constrictors aren't native to the Antelope Valley and most snakes don't roam freely in the cool fall temperatures."
