Surveillance Footage Could Help Solve Ronni Chasen Murder

Surveillance footage gathered Tuesday night by residents and business owners along Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills may give investigators some insight into the murder of publicist Ronni Chasen, reports LA Now.

Chasen, 64, was shot multiple times in the chest behind the wheel of her Mercedes-Benz, which she ultimately crashed into a pole on a residential Beverly Hills street just after midnight on Tuesday. She had been at a premiere for the film "Burlesque," then a party at the W Hotel in Hollywood, and was likely on her way home, going west on Sunset, towards her Wilshire Boulevard condo, when she was shot.

Speculation points to road rage, and detectives hope that surveillance footage will reveal if Chasen was involved in a confrontation or pursued. The worry, however, is that this sort of footage can be hard to see, less effective at night, or include blind spots. As authorities continue to work on this troubling crime, Chasen's colleagues are remembering her, and are pitching in to help solve the case: "Hollywood publicist Michael Levine, friend of Ronni Chasen for more than 25 years, has formed a reward fund for the arrest and conviction of her killer," says KTLA.
