New figures released by the Secretary of State's Office show Harris with a 29,738-vote lead; she has 46 percent to Cooley's 45.6 percent. At the time of those calculations, an estimated 761,218 ballots remained to be counted.
On Election Night, November 2, Cooley called it in his favor early in the evening, but was overtaken in the wee hours by Harris, who held a lead for a few days as the count progressed. The count must be complete by November 30, and the results certified by December 3.
