Whitman Household Makes a Clean Sweep, Settles With Santillian

Meg Whitman and her husband, Griffith Harsh IV, reached a settlement today with their former employee "during a closed meeting at the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement in San Jose," according to CBS2. Whitman did not attend the meeting.

The Harsh household "did not admit wrongdoing" in the episode that put the final weeks of Whitman's ultimately failed gubernatorial campaign in turmoil, when Santillian came forward about having been employed as an illegal immigrant, and alleging she was owed back wages.

Whitman maintained she fired Santillian when she learned the housekeeper was undocumented. Santillian had been looking for $8,00-$10,000 in back pay and mileage; today she only said "she was satisfied with the agreement" reached in settlement.
