Alcohol 'most likely played a role' in Fatal Sunset Strip Hit-and-Run

Following the arrest of an Australian businessman for his alleged role in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman says alcohol "most likely played a role in this tragic event," according to LA Now.

Ryan Bowman, 34 (initially reported as 43), turned himself in yesterday afternoon after investigators found the dark gray Bentley he'd allegedly been driving during the accident abandoned and still running.

Bowman was booked on charges of vehicular manslaughter for his suspected role in the death of 21-year-old Lauren Freeman of Hollywood, who had been using the crosswalk to traverse the busy street after leaving a concert at a nearby club.
