Power Outages All Over SoCal Due to High Winds
Today's strong winds have been knocking out power to several customers all over the region today, reports LA Now. With gusts of up to 60 mph, and "sustained winds of 20 mph to 30 mph," the outages were first reported around 6:30 this morning.
By this afternoon, "about 6,400 homes were without power due to high winds in territory served by Southern California Edison, a company spokesman said." The affected areas are in the foothills, "stretching from La Cañada Flintridge to the Coachella Valley, with reports of damage concentrated in La Cañada Flintridge, Altadena, Upland, Rialto and Rancho Cucamonga." In the Inland Empire, winds knocked down trees, and some power lines snapped and sparked fire, according to ABC7.
This evening would be a good time to double check your flashlights have batteries, and you've got a plan for spending some time without power; these high winds are forecast to last into tonight.
