Suspect in Riverside Police Officer Shooting Arrested at Target
Grief-stricken family members and angry Riverside residents might be one step closer to getting some answers in the Sunday slaying of Riverside police officer Ryan P. Bonaminio, 27, as a suspect was arrested outside a Target Store at about 8 p.m. last night, according to the LA Times.
Earl Ellis Green, 44, was picked up by police and FBI agents and booked on suspicion of murder and a parole violation. Green has a criminal record spanning thirty years which includes convictions for domestic violence, battery of a police officer, selling drugs and vehicle theft. In 2007, he was sentenced to three years in state prison for vandalism.
Officer Bonaminio was shot and killed after he pulled over a stolen semi-truck in what initially appeared to be a routine traffic stop. Video footage of a suspect captured on Bonaminio's patrol car camera, released yesterday by Riverside Police along with $390,000 in reward money, may have led to the Target arrest. Police have not disclosed what led them to arrest Green and the investigation is ongoing.
Memorial services for Bonaminio are scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Grove Community Church in Riverside. The Officer and Family Assistance Fund is accepting donations through the Riverside Police Officers Association.
