A private funeral will be held this morning for Los Angeles police officer Joshua Cullins at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

Officer Cullins, 28, was a Marine reserve staff sergeant serving as a bomb-disposal technician. He was killed on October 18th on duty in Afghanistan, "when a secondary explosion was set off as he was investigating an earlier blast in an area near Marja," according to LA Now.

Though Cullins' service today is private, it will affect the public, as the LAPD has shut down several downtown streets to accommodate the service, which will remain closed for likely the whole morning. Following the service, the funeral procession will travel to Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village for interment.

Street Closures:
- Northbound lanes of Grand Ave between 1st and Temple Streets
- Temple Street between Grand Ave and Broadway
- Hill Street between 1st and Ord Streets
- Hill Street between 1st and Temple Streets ( soft closure to provide local access)
