From Show to Storefront: Unique LA Combines Forces with Apartment 3 to Go Brick & Mortar
L.A. in the past has seen a food truck go brick and mortar, but this weekend a popular event gets a turn. Sonja Rasula's Unique LA has always been a widely-attended seasonal show where shoppers can find a plethora of local and U.S. independent design and gift vendors (get a taste of what is sold in this photo essay), so why not try something a little more full time? Furniture store H.D. Buttercup offered Rasula a more permanent home for Unique LA. And fashion consulting company Apartment 3, once a store on La Brea, also was asked to join.
"It's almost like completing the lifestyle," said Rasula about the combination of H.D. Buttercup's furniture, Apartment 3's clothing and her collection of accessories, gifts and more.
On Saturday, the 4,000 square foot space opens and is jam packed (much more than the sneak preview photos above) with unique items and clothing (and we hear there's lots for men, too).
The space will be open for at least four months, and if successful, Rasula wants to make it permanent with an expansion to San Francisco.
The store is located at 3225 Helms Avenue (map) and is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
