LAst Night's Action: John Ely Struck Down in Dodgers' Loss

This story is free to read because readers choose to support LAist. If you find value in independent local reporting, make a donation to power our newsroom today.

Arizona Diamondbacks defeat LA Dodgers 5-2. John Ely and the strike zone still aren’t seeing eye-to-eye with Ely allowing six walks to Diamondbacks’ hitters. After Stephen Drew scored on Tony Abreu’s sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to tie the game 1-1, Cole Gillespie gave the D-Backs the 4-1 lead with a three run homer off of Ely in the sixth inning.

Chicago White Sox defeat LA Angels 6-2. Scott Kazmir since coming back from the disabled list on August 7 hadn’t given up more than four earned runs. Well in this game he gave up five earned runs before recording an out in the fourth inning.

UCLA Bruins defeat Texas Longhorns 34-12. This was no fluke win for the Bruins. They ran it down the Longhorns’ throats and stomped their way to victory. Moral of the story: always mess with Texas. Read my recap of the game.

USC Trojans defeat Washington State Cougars 50-16. It would have been pathetic if the Trojans had any trouble in this game.

Philadelphia Union defeat Chivas USA 3-0.
