Oxnard Man Staged Robbery to Force Girlfriend to Miscarry
Jaime Solis Olmos was convicted on charges of "attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder," against his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child, reports the Daily News.
Olmos, of Oxnard, now faces "25 years to life in prison for paying two men $500 to stage a robbery and punch his pregnant girlfriend so she would have a miscarriage."
The incident took place in January 2008. Olmos allegedly did not want his girlfriend, Justina Cornejo, to carry their child to term, but she refused to have an abortion. The prosecutor says he sought out two men to stage a robbery. "While Olmos and Cornejo were parked in a car at a Newbury Park overlook [...] the men attacked the woman, punching her in the face and stomach."
Ultimately, Cornejo gave birth to a healthy baby boy who is now two years old.
