Culver City Holds 2 Daytime Checkpoints, Impounds 80 Vehicles
Drivers in Culver City today were taken by surprise when they went through a drivers license checkpoint. Two separate ones were set up -- one in the morning and another in the afternoon -- resulting in 80 impounds and three arrests for outstanding warrants. Drivers of impounded vehicles were also cited for "Unlicensed Driver" and "Driving on a Suspended License," authorities said.
The morning checkpoint occurred from 7 to 11 a.m. on Centinela Avenue between Washington Boulevard and Washington Place. A second one took place on La Cienega Avenue at Smiley Avenue from 1 to 3 p.m.
"Why is there a check point on a Wednesday afternoon," said one Twitter user. "They takin it too far now I got shit to do."
Today's operation was done in conjunction with police from Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Hawthorne.
