New Pay to Park Policy Angers Angelenos, LADOT Says New Meters Rarely Fail

But there are some key points that we should have especially emphasized. The new policy is only for the new coin and card meters, not the old meters that just accept coins.
KTLA this morning followed up on our report and interviewed Daniel Mitchell from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation. He explained that the new meters are operating 99.9% of the time. Apparently, however, Kevin Roderick at LA Observed experienced on of the extremely rare failures in Westwood when his meter would not accept cards or coins.
Mitchell said a "neat feature" of the new meters include technology that wirelessly informs repair technicians when a meter is failing.
