LA Vida Music Festival Returns!
(cornicheentertainment.com)
Just under a year ago, the folks at Corniche Entertainment treated Latin music fans to the inaugural LA Vida Music Festival at the Ford Amphitheatre. The energetic event featured a variety of great local talent, including Robert Kyle, Chris Bennett, Mariachi Ellas Son and headliner Louie Cruz Beltran.
Louie Cruz Beltran is back as this year’s headliner and much like last year, he will join forces with a special guest star. This time around it will be GRAMMY Award winning conga master Poncho Sanchez.
“It is an honor,” remarks Beltran, describing what it will be like to take the stage with Sanchez, further adding, “we’ve talked before at previous events, but we’ve never shared the stage.” Beltran fondly remembers the impact, Sanchez had on his own career and life; “I remember going to see him when I was younger and thinking, ‘here is a cat out of Texas and he made it’ and here I am in L.A. He made me see it was possible.”
Musically, Beltran and Sanchez are expected to share the stage on at least two numbers. For his part, Beltran has also been working on new material as well as adding new arrangements to previous works and classics. “I have something special,” he says, as he talks about what is in store for this Sunday, at one point stating, “oh, if you don’t get up and dance for this one, there is something wrong with you!”
Reflecting on the festival as a whole, Beltran was moved by the brotherhood demonstrated at the first festival, last October. “You had Argentinos, Mexicans...” and so on, as he rattles off a list of different Latin American nationalities.
That comradery Beltran talks about is sure to be present once again this Sunday at the Ford Amphitheatre for the second installment of the LA Vida Festival. Don’t miss it.
