Pencil This In: 48 Hour Film Project Premieres, Palate's Wine Tastings, Full Moon Hiking in Franklin Canyon

There’s a closing performance tonight at 8 pm for artist Will Lemon III’s exhibit Parcival Versus The Sun at the Eighth Veil gallery. Using pop culture and religious history, the body of work examines Parcival’s famed quest for the Holy Grail. “Lemon creates an elaborate setting in which the re-contextualized Parcival journeys with his audience through both physical and visceral spheres of sight, sound, and smell.”

Earlier this month, the 48 Hour Film Project gave LA filmmakers two days to write, shoot and edit their short films. Teams were given a genre, a prop, a character and a line of dialogue for each film. Well, tonight, the films make their debut on the big screen at the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex tonight through Thursday. Shows at 7 and 9:30 pm. Tickets: $11.
HIKE
There’s a full moon hike starting at 8 pm tonight at Franklin Canyon Ranch in Beverly Hills with a volunteer naturalist. Listen to wildlife and nature, guided by the moon and stars. The moderately strenuous hike will last approximately two hours. No dogs allowed on the group program. Bring a flashlight.
WINE
Palate in Glendale continues its Tuesday Night Wine Tastings on the patio. This week focuses on handmade wines from the Loire Valley, and includes Christian Venier Cheverny Le Clos des Carteries Blanc 2009; Bernard Fouquet Vouvray Cuvée de Silex 2008; Loïc Mahe Savennières Les Fougeraies 2007; and Pithon-Paillé Bourgueil Graviers 2008. The wines will be available for purchase at a 10 percent discount tomorrow night only. The tasting will be held from 6:30-9 pm and tickets are $10.
