Mapping Rap Lyrics in Los Angeles
"Or watch me swing my chain at the Roscoe's off Pico." ~ From "Hip Hop Quotables" by Ludacris
We've seen maps and pop culture mashed up before -- such as locations for movie shoots like Star Trek or 500 Days of Summer -- but nothing as creative as this.
Last week Rap Genius, which seeks to reveal the meaning behind rap lyrics, continued its mission by developing an interactive Google Map that includes "every significant location in the corpus of hip-hop."
There's only a handful marked in Southern California, including Warren G's mention of 21st and Lewis where he, Snoop and Nate Dogg attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, but, as Mashable suspects, there has to be more to come. And if a missing location really bothers you, you can always submit it.
