L.A. Chefs Get a 'Test Kitchen' for Angelenos to Dine in

test-kitchen.jpg Comedians test out their material in front of crowds before their big shows all the time. So why not chefs before they open their next restaurant? Meet Test Kitchen, which opens next week in the much speculated-about former Spark Woodfire Grill space on Pico Boulevard.

On a rotating basis, chefs and mixologists will take stage. Starting next August 18th will be Jordan Kahn's "Red Medicine." The $40 per person contemporary Vietnamese prix fixe menu consists of 12 items that will be served continuously family style. For drinks, mixologist Noah Ellis will pair dishes with wine and his cocktail creations. The duo will serve customers through August 22nd.

Then in the true fashion of Test Kitchen, another chef -- Ricardo Zarate of Mo-Chica -- and another mixologist will take over on August 24th, and so on in coming weeks.

The restaurant is the creation of Bill Chait, the long-time L.A. restauranteur who is currently a managing partner at Spark and Rivera, and Brian Saltsburg -- one half of the duo behind Boyz Night Out, the underground restaurant industry who's who event that roams the city.
