TV Junkie: 'Entourage' To End Next Summer; RIP Patricia Neal

"Entourage" exits stage left next Summer
The Hollywood Reporter has a great summary of what must've been a long Saturday at the Television Critics Association's HBO day. The gist: "Entourage" will have its last season next summer and it will be a short one, the idea is that it would set up a movie for later in the year - this is a good thing as the series has become a little tired even for former fans as, it seems, the producers have resorted to driving interest in the show season-by-season by changing Adrian Grenier's hairstyle. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" will end only when Larry David wants it to end, and he's not indicating an end anytime soon. "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" may have a follow-up movie but is over as a series - this is good as the books may have been good but it was an awkward and out-of-place series for US TV. We'd like to hear more about new HBO series but all the hype is about "Boardwalk Empire", which premieres September 19th.

It's with sadness that we bid farewell to triple Emmy-nominee Patricia Neal who passed away from lung cancer on Sunday at the age of 84. Although her Emmy-noms were for network drama specials, her work on pilots helped launch iconic series like "The Waltons". Neal was also well-known for marrying author Roald Dahl and for winning one of those Oscar things for her role in Hud with Paul Newman. Ironically, this reporter had just completed the Pan-Mass Challenge ride for cancer research, finishing in Provincetown, Massachusetts after riding a bike 300 miles from the New York border. Provincetown is on Cape Cod to the north of Martha's Vineyard - we finished the ride on Sunday morning, about the same time Neal passed away.
