TV Junkie: Chris Isaak to 'Idol'? 'True Blood' Comics? New Stuff from Showtime

While the latest edition may have been "the worst 'Idol' ever", most networks would kill for the show's ratings on it's worst days so Fox will have to continue the show, the question is, who will helm the show when Simon Cowell leaves to head the US version of his show, "The X Factor"? Crooner Chris Isaak has reportedly met with studio execs a couple times as a candidate for the position. We love Chris Isaak and had a great chat with him last year regarding his Biography Channel show, "The Chris Isaak Hour", which lasted for a season. While we think that Isaak would bring some class, sophistication, and legitimate music chops to the show, he's not as pervasively known as Cowell now is, which is what "American Idol" is going to need in order to maintain its status as a place where "stars" create "stars". If Chris gets it, kudos to him and the viewers, who will be more educated and entertained if they stick with a show helmed by somebody they don't know, but we're not so sure that it's going to happen.

We got Summer/Fall screeners from Showtime and we're really excited to see: "The Big C" with Laura Linney (potential SAG nomination?); "Weeds" - because we're interested in finding out what kind of show this is since it stopped being a comedy last season; and reading the 2 scripts of Matt LeBlanc's new show, "Episodes" that were in the box.
