A brush fire that broke out this afternoon on the Camarillo Hills has scorched some 15 acres of land in the Camarillo Heights neighborhood of Ventura County.

Reported just after 3 p.m., the blaze has prompted about 150 firefighters on the ground and two helicopters to respond to the area around Ocean View Drive, north of Loop Drive, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

Although authorities are confident they can contain this fire without it spreading too much further -- they are saying it will definitely make 20 acres -- the canyons in the area are steep, which could make the fight difficult. Adding to the potential problems are wind, which is currently not bad at about 10 mph, and hot air.

There have been no calls for evacuations as the fire is moving into rural terrain, but some are self-evacuating, according to live reports on KCAL-TV.

Update: The number of fire personnel has increased to 250, says the Ventura County Star. Some are setting up on the other side of the hills, south of the 118 Freeway.
