Side-View Mirrors New Car Parts Theft Trend?

Do thieves have their eyes on your car's side-view mirrors? Police in El Segundo think they might have a theft trend on their hands, according to the Daily Breeze. A first in the area, last week there were 5 reported such thefts, with thieves popping the glass out of mirrors from GMC and Chevy SUVs. In Carson, similar thefts took place in March. In other parts of the country side-view mirror theft seems to be a burgeoning trend, too. The mirrors being stolen locally are considered "high-tech" with a lot of built in features, and owners replacing the glass alone can run vehicle owners up to $900.
