TV Junkie: Starz Drops 'Party Down'
It's really a shame that Starz has dropped "Party Down" - great cast, great writing, really funny situations based on the reality of surviving in LA while being creative
It's true that viewership of the show was low (130,000-260,000 weekly) but what did Starz expect from its lackluster marketing and placement of the show? It's been decades since a Friday night comedy has taken off. We also note that their blanket marketing campaign of "Spartacus: Blood & Sand" yielded results but that there was no similar effort for "Party Down". Yes, "Part Down" had a night at PaleyFest a few months back but that's nothing compared to the US tour of cast members and aggressive print and web advertising of "Spartacus". We hope the cult following of "Party Down" results in some cult DVD purchases because this show needs to live on in some way.

Larry King: it's about time. We never understood why Larry King made the "leap" to TV - his show was just fine on the radio, which is where it should have stayed. Perhaps the one thing different about his show on CNN was that it was based out of studios in Los Angeles, hardly an innovation, but conducive to easily tapping into the entertainment industry PR machine, which must be desperately hoping that King's replacement will be as willing a mouthpiece for their product.
