16-year-old solo sailing adventurer Abby Sunderland arrived home to Southern California today, and held a news conference in Marina Del Rey. "Sunderland recounted the terrifying moments, talked about what she had learned and responded to criticism of her parents during the hourlong news conference," according to LA Now.

She shared her story of losing her mast during the storm that brought an end to her quest to circumnavigate the globe alone, and that the criticism of her parents and their decision to allow her to set sail as she did was unfounded and "extremely hurtful."

For now, Sunderland has more typical 16-year-old stuff to tackle, like getting her driver's license, but her love of sailing, she says, has only grown since her adventures at sea these past few weeks, and she may yet write a book or participate in a documentary about her experience.

"The more I sail, the more I like sailing. I’m definitely going to do more," said Sunderland.
