Pencil This In: Lots to Laugh About Tonight
David Bickel will be talking about his creepy findings tonight. (creepiosity.com)
The Largo at the Coronet hosts a chat with comedy writer David Bickel, who will be talking about his new book CREEPIOSITY: A Hilarious Guide to the Unintentionally Creepy. In his book, Bickel shares a wide variety of normal, yet rather unsettling everyday objects, people and things, including grown men in Boy Scout uniforms, fish with strong resemblances to people and many others. Kevin Pollak, Nick Kroll, Laura Silverman and Gary Valentine will also participate. Starts at 8:00 PM.
COMEDY
Being locked up at home and not being allowed to contact your friends or celebrate holidays doesn't sound like the start of a comedy routine, but that's the exact premise for Angela Trimbur's Trapped! Life as a Homeschooled Jehovah's Witness. Written and performed by Trimbur, the work is a comedic take on her real life growing up as a homeschooled Jehovah's Witness. Starts at 8:00 PM at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
THEATRE
This one is for all the couch potatoes in the crowd. Elephant Stages Lillian Theatre in Hollywood is presenting Kill Your Television as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. The solo performance takes us through a trip exploring the various funny things that happen when you watch too much TV. Performance begins at 8:00 PM, through June 26th.
ART
Paris' Musee d'Orsay, Madrid's Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and the J. Paul Getty Museum in L.A. have joined forces to present the works of Jean-Leon Gerome. The first exhibit of its kind in decades, The Spectacular Art of Jean-Leon Gerome will be on display at the Getty Center through August 28th.
