Last Night on The Hills: The "Just Friends" Boat

We took a half hour break from finishing the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle to check in on The Hills. Here's what we learned.

After a few scenes of general chatter between Kristin, Stephanie and Lo planning Audrina's yacht-rock birthday party ("Should we invite Justin Bobby? He's totally mean to her, but we think maybe there's still something between them...") the Hills kids headed out for a night at MyHouse in Hollywood to party it up. Naturally, nemesis McKaela and supernemesis Allie just happened to show up. Kristin was wasted and fired up, therefore yet another battle with Allie to determine who was the crazier bitch erupted.

First of all, we don't really buy this whole story that Allie broke into Brody's house. Allie claims she was there looking for a diamond ring, and while we weren't exactly dripping in diamonds in our early twenties, you can bet that if we were, we'd roll back to the last place we saw it if one of them went missing. And it's not exactly like Brody keeps his bedroom door locked ifyaknowwhatimean.

The next day, when Kristin swung by Smashbox to pick up Lo for lunch, she inevitably ran into McKaela, who apologized for the little scene the night before. Kristin not so much accepted the apology and instead mouthed off a little more, and McKaela shot back, asking if this bitchfest was really about some alleged break-in or "is this about me dating Brody?" Kristin looked like she'd just been electrocuted. Props, McKaela. Not enough people stand up to Kristin, and frankly she's really obnoxious.

That night, Audrina went over to Ryan Cabrera's house, had a glass of red wine, and broke up with him. Thank God. This has been torturing her for like three episodes and we're sick of hearing about it. Onto the birthday party.

Justin Bobby and his winter peacoat did in fact show up. Generally the boat ride was pretty peaceful and the kids toasted to the fact that they can all be in the same room after years of reality TV strife. Later on, Audrina and Justin retired to the deck to flirtatiously throw negs at each other, and after hearing that she broke up Ryan, Justin expressed his deep sympathy and conjectured that maybe everything they'd been through has led them to this place. And it's a good place. What place is that, JB? The place where you two keep each other at a confusing arms length don't define your relationship? 'Cause that seems to be your favorite spot.

The episode ended with the spontaneous planning of a trip to Costa Rica. Because what else is on the schedule. Until then!
