Pencil This In: Motown Legend Diana Ross @ Nokia Theatre

MUSIC
The legendary Diana Ross takes the stage at Nokia Theatre tonight to perform a collection of her greatest hits. Ross secured her place in music history as the lead singer for The Supremes and later with a very successful solo career. In addition to her musical accomplishments, Ross and The Supremes were an instrumental part of Motown's golden era, along with Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and other great singers. She is also credited with having discovered the late Michael Jackson. Show starts at 8:00 PM.

MUSEUM
Down in Santa Ana, the Bowers Museum of Cultural Art has a bit of history on display. Pre-Columbian history to be more precise. They are currently exhibiting a collection of over 4,000 Pre-Columbian art pieces, mostly consisting of pottery, but also includes some textile, stone and metal works. Most of the works represent ancient cultures of western Mexico, but Mayan and Inca works are also on display. Through August 11th.

COMEDY
Tonight is the third night of I.O. West's 2010 L.A. Improv Comedy Festival. In its 8th year, the festival will feature improv workshops, and individual and team performances, competing for the title of best in the nation. Improv Olympic co-founder Charna Halpern will lead the workshops along with Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family, Dave Hill, Michael McCarthy and Bridget Kloss. Some of the featured performers include Neil Flynn, Danny Pudi and others. Through June 12th.

ART
L.A. Artcore, located at Union Center for the Arts hosts its inaugural exchange show, through June 30th. Entitled LATITUDE 34-40, the exhibit is the result of an exchange with Associazione Culturale Art 1307 in Naples, Italy and features the works of seven Neapolitan artists. Works include photography, paintings and sculptures and occupy both galleries at LA Artcore. Admission is FREE.

TALK/FASHION SHOW
Fans of the popular show Mad Men may wish to head down to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to listen to costume designer Janie Bryant and author Monica Corcoran Harel. They will talk about the various costumes used in the show and afterwards, a fashion show will let audience members appreciate the works first hand. Starts at 7:30 PM.
