Last Night on The Hills: Brody Dangles the New Girl

We took a half hour break from watching Biography on A&E to catch up on The Hills. Here's what we learned:

Lately Brody and Kristin have taken the friends-with-benefits route, which is always a surefire way to guarantee everyone will keep a level head and no one's feelings will get hurt. That was a prank. This is gonna get awkward real fast. The pair hit up Happy Endings (does that floor anyone else?), and over whatever shot the big wheel deemed the cheapest, Brody lets Kristin know he is definitely enjoying being single and decidedly not looking for a girlfriend. This appeared to be pretty disappointing news to Kristin, who later relayed to Audrina that she can't figure this sitch out. (Kristin and Audrina are close enough friends now to hang out alone on a couch and drink wine, by the way. Big step.) Kristin's words said she's down with the casual vibe, but her girlish grin and constant hand wringing clearly indicated her dormant Brody crush had been awakened. She called her boy toy to see what's up, but Brody hit the Ignore button since he was on a date with new girl McKaela, who looked freakishly like Lauren Conrad. (Indecisive history repeating itself, Brodester?) One thing was clear, Kristin's getting plzayed.

Next thing we knew, Brody decided to throw McKaela into the lions den by bringing her out to Jane's House to meet the gang. Because, of course, in Brody's world, after the first get-to-know you date comes date #2 in which you use your new fling to make jealous the ex-girlfriend you recently knocked boots with. When Kristin didn't leap into McKaela's arms and pinky swear to be new besties, Brody called her out for being "rude" and, in defending the honor of his new lady, stormed off with McKaela undoubtedly feeling like a prize. Mission accomplished, Brody.

So now that Stephanie is sober and finished with community service she feels ready for a man, and Lo miraculously served one right up! It couldn't have be easier if it were cast! (Oh, wait.) The man, Max, was one of "Scott's friends." At least that's what everyone kept saying. Are we supposed to know who Scott is? Is that Lo's boyfriend? He's a professional lacrosse player, and despite the fact that Stephanie didn't know what lacrosse was and said twitty things like "Yes, I haven't" all night, she still got the guy. Is it really that easy in this town??

In the end, Kristin showed up to Brody's condo in some sassy white jeans to put him in his place, but a thick skull (or maybe just a trucker hat) stood between him and reason, and the former friends took one cold step towards enemyville. We'll see how this develops next week. Speaking of which, the previews tell us Justin Bobby returns. Noooooooo!
