Your Table is Ready: This Week in Restaurant & Bar Openings
Right now in new restaurants and bars: Waterloo & City brings traditional Brit gastropub fare with an innovative flair to Culver City, Mooi serves up raw and vegan dishes, Chicago's Rick Bayless is about to launch upscale Mexican eatery Red O, Sweet Rose Creamery is now scooping in Brentwood, a historic Hollywood building gets new life as SBE's The Colony, and Earl's Gourmet Grub is feeding folks in Venice.
It was once the Crest House Family Restaurant, now it's Waterloo & City, named in honor of the London Underground line. That happens to be from where Executive Chef and co-owner Brendan Collins hails; he and his partner, GM and Co-owner Carolos Tomazos have just opened up this British gastropub that pairs pints with sophisticated cuisine focusing on local and seasonal ingredients. You may want to check out the large communal table or the bar in this renovated greasy spoon, and taste signature dishes like Manchester Quail with Chopped Liver on Toast or Whole Roast Chicken with Wild Mushroom Pot Pie along with a selection of cured meats, terrines and pates. If you're not feeling like swilling suds, you can select something from their specialty seasonal cocktail menu. (Photo courtesy Waterloo & City/used with permission)
