LA Lakers defeat Phoenix Suns 124-112. It got a little hairy there for a second for the Lakers as the Phoenix Suns made a push in the third quarter. But Pau Gasol and the Lakers pushed their lead and now have a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Finals over the Suns. For the Lakers Gasol had 29 points and nine rebounds, Kobe Bryant scored 21 and a personal playoff record 13 assists, while the “lucky” Lamar Odom scored 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Lakers’ victory.

LA Angels defeat Chicago White Sox 3-2. Torii Hunter hit a two-run go-ahead homer in the fourth inning to give the Angels the 2-1 lead. Juan Rivera scored the winning insurance run in the eighth inning when third baseman Jayson Nix made an error catching a ball hit by Erick Aybar and an error throwing the ball to first. Brian Fuentes came on for the save in the ninth and promptly gave up a homer to Paul Konerko. He would settle down to get his fifth save of the season. Angels’ starter Joe Saunders had a great start again going 7 2/3 innings giving up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four.

San Diego Padres defeat LA Dodgers 10-5. Ramon Ortiz lasted only 3 1/3 innings while Russell Martin extended his hitting streak to 14 games in the Dodgers loss.
