978 Pot Plants Found in El Monte Home

marijuana-leaf-green.jpg Police in El Monte followed up on a tip and arrested a pair who were cultivating almost 1,000 marijuana plants inside their home, according to abc7.

Phan Tran and Hung Doc Trinh were both arrested as they each "left the house within an hour of each other," last night. The El Monte PD had been tipped off about their suspicious activity by a "concerned citizen."

Inside the house were a power bill for over $5,000, along with the 978 plants, which would have an estimated value of $250,000 if harvested and sold. One suspect told authorities "they estimated they harvested 60 pounds of marijuana from the location." The El Monte PD confiscated the plants and will store the marijuana as evidence.
