Bryan Batt at Book Soup
Bryan Batt, who plays Sal Romano on Mad Men, grew up with a mother who was "the kind of lady who throws elegant cocktail parties while wearing layers of silk chiffon, dripping pearls, and eight months' pregnant." (Almost sounds Betty Draper-ish, right?) In his new book, She Ain't Heavy, She's My Mother, Batt chronicles his mother's life, as well as her role in his, as he grew up in New Orleans, moved onto Broadway and beyond. He'll be reading and signing at Book Soup beginning at 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Wizard of Oz (with DIY Pink Floyd soundtrack)
Tonight the Hollywood Forever Cemetery hosts a screening of The Wizard of Oz. Here's our suggestion: download Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, (or dig up and old Discman and get the CD - might work better), wait until the MGM lion's third roar, hit play, and watch the craziness ensue. Gates at 7:00 p.m.

E.T. Rip-Off Night
No one can quite recreate such a heartbreaking, lovable little alien creature such as E.T., but boy oh boy have people tried. So tonight, Cinefamily celebrates these attempts in this event, which features, as they say, "a freakshow of failed cloning mutations that would terrify Dr. Moreau." The main attraction of the night is a screening of Mac and Me, a film about a bug-eyed, breakdancing little alien monster who prefers McDonald's to Reese's Pieces. 10:45 p.m.
