Pencil This In: Lots of Variety Tonight

MUSIC
Pianist, singer and songwriter Ben Folds will be performing tonight at the Henry Fonda Theatre in a program set to feature a variety of his works. Brisbane, Australia native Kate Miller-Heidke will also be taking the stage as part of tonight's program. Show starts at 8 PM and, for those on the fence about going, you should should note that tonight is the last performance of his current L.A. stop.

THEATRE
Marcia Milgrom Dodge directs the Pulitzer prize winning play How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which just opened last night. The comedy/musical stars Josh Grisetti, Simon Helberg of The Big Bang Theory fame, as well as Ed Asner in the role of narrator, amongst other names. It is a satirical look at corporate America. Curtains go up at 8 PM at the Freud Playhouse at UCLA. Through May 23rd.

ART
Are you one of those folks that think taxidermy is only for people that are into hunting? If so, think again. The Rogue Taxidermy Show on display at La Luz de Jesus will quickly prove you wrong. Curated by Robert Marbury, it is a collection of unusual taxidermy pieces bordering on the level of being considered highly artistic, both in concept and technique. Hours vary by day, but it is open through May 30th and admission is FREE.

LECTURE
John R. Tumpak, noted jazz historian and journalist, presents his lecture A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald at the Brand Library in Glendale. Tumpak will share personal moments from Fitzgerald's life, while also featuring some of her famed musical work. Clips from movies and TV shows where Fitzgerald performed are also on the docket. A must for Jazz fans. Starts at 7 PM and is FREE.
