Tonight at 7:30 pm, selected finalists for the Lambda Literary Awards will read from their nominated work at Skylight Books. The "Lammy" is the most prestigious and competitive literary award offered specifically to LGBT authors. Tonight's readers are James Morrison, Stacie Cassarino, Kathleen Bradean, Dexter Flowers, Ariel Schrag and Dayle A. Dermatis. More info.

The Library’s ALOUD series presents an evening with author Isabel Allende in conversation with novelist and poet Giocondi Belli. Allende will be on hand to discuss her latest novel Island Beneath the Sea. The program will be held at the at the Aratani/Japan America Theatre and begins at 8 pm. Tickets: $25 and $17.50 Library Associates.
BENEFIT
The "Peru comes to Hollywood" benefit event happens tonight at the Majestic Crest Theater in Westwood at 7:15 pm. There's a private screening of the upcoming film Princess Kaiulani and a Q&A with the movie’s star Q’orianka Kilcher, followed by a reception that features traditional music and dance from Peru. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Peru Flood Victims and Indigenous communities who are living on the front lines of climate change in Peru. Tickets: $25-$2,000. RSVPs required.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences presents the Monday evening film series Oscar Noir: 1940s Writing Nominees from Hollywood’s Dark Side at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Tonight the Academy screens the John Huston-directed The Maltese Falcon, the third film version of Dashiell Hammett's novel that stars Humphrey Bogart. For the series, cartoons, shorts and serials begin at 7 pm with the feature presentation at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $5 or $30 for the whole series.
TASTE
Angeleno Magazine is holding a tasting event/fundraiser for Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation tonight from 6:30-9:30 pm at Snyder Diamond in Santa Monica. There will be a live cooking demo by Chef Quinn Hatfield (Hatfield's); Chef Water Manzke (formerly of Church & State) and Chef Laurent Quenioux (Bistro LQ). Appetizers will be passed and there's an open bar for wine and beer. Intelligentsia will be serving coffee, and desserts will be provided by Essential Chocolate Desserts. Tickets are $40 at the door.
