Immigration Protestors Arrested in Thursday's Civil Disobedience Released from Jail

The 14 protestors who chained themselves together outside the federal Metropolitan Detention Center last Thursday were released today, nearly four days after their arrest, the LA Times is reporting. Charges include interfering with police work and failure to disperse.

The week prior, Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez made headlines for his arrest in Washington D.C. after he and a group of 34 people linked themselves together in front of the White House.

Immigration issues have been heating up as of late, especially with the signing of Arizona's SB 1070, which requires police to check the immigration status of a person when they are stopped, detained or arrested. Although it's one of the issues that some thought Congress would tackle next, it looks like climate change is winning out.
