Boston Red Sox defeat LA Angels 11-6. The Angels looked like they would avoid a four-game sweep by the hands of Boston when they tagged starter Daisuke Matsuzaka for four runs in the first inning. But Angels’ starter Scott Kazmir couldn’t hold on to the lead giving up seven runs including a two-run homer in the third and a two-run double in a five-run fifth to Victor Martinez. The Angels got to within one run in the sixth inning thanks to a Mike Napoli two-run bomb to right field. But errors and walks doomed the Angels in the bottom of the sixth when a combination of Brian Stokes and Matt Palmer gave up four runs (all charged to Stokes though one was earned.)Hideki Okajima and Ramon Ramirez kept the Angels scoreless for the remainder of the game giving the Sox their first four-game sweep over the Angels since June 12 to June 15, 1980 and their first at home since August 18 to August 20, 1967.
LA Dodgers defeat Milwaukee Brewers 7-3. Read Caleb’s recap of the game.
