Santa Monica Gets a New CSA, Canoga Park a New Farmers Market
This weekend, the movement to serve the Los Angeles region with local food grows in the Valley and in Santa Monica.
On Saturday, the group behind The Farmers Kitchen and farmers markets across town--Hollywood, Atwater Village and Leimert Park, to name a few--will open their newest market in Canoga Park. Beginning this Saturday, and every Saturday year-round (rain or shine), the Main Street Canoga Park Farmers Market will debut. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Owensmouth Ave. between Sherman Way & Wyandotte St.
And weekly on Sundays, Santa Monica's RAWvolution Cafe will become the newest pick-up location for California CSA, which also has locations in NoHo, downtown, Topanga and other areas. In Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, customers pre-pay for food from a farmer and pick up a box of produce every week. The new Santa Monica pick-up will be from 5 to 7 p.m. every Sunday in the back alley of the cafe.
