Where L.A. & Burbank Share Borders, Quality of Life can be Stalled

If one bureaucracy wasn't enough, try living on a street owned and operated by the cities of Los Angeles and Burbank. That's the case for residents along Clybourn Avenue in the Valley.

Along nearly a half-mile stretch between Riverside Drive and Toluca Lake Avenue, "numerous potholes" dot the street that "has been in an overall state of disrepair for years," according to a motion put forth by L.A. City Councilman Tom LaBonge.

Although Los Angeles has funds available to fix the street--it was last paved 20 years ago--the problem is that one half of the street is in Burbank. LaBonge has a goal of completing it by the end of the fiscal year--June 30th--and the current idea is to have Los Angeles pay for the repair in full--about $110,000--with Burbank agreeing to do the same the next time resurfacing is needed. The issue will be discussed today at a city council public works committee.
