MOPLA's Photo Events Around Town Tonight
MOPLA reception at MorYork in Highland Park tonight. | 'Pull Over' by Sylvia Sukop.
Besides celebrating poetry and National Garden Month, April is a month for MOPLA (Month of Photography Los Angeles), dedicated to celebrating the art of photography, including the commercial, fine art and photojournalism genres. It began last year, conceived and is organized by individuals who founded The Focus on Aids Photography Auction, The Lucie Foundation and the Lucie Awards.
The organizers have assembled a number of events throughout the month to engage LA's photo community and its fans. Tonight alone are three events including an opening reception for Pieter Hugo's exhibit at Shoshana Wayne Gallery in Santa Monica from 5-7 pm. Diversity in Development is another exhibit at the Loft at Liz's (Hardware) on La Brea, with an opening reception from 7-10 pm. And there's a group show with Sylvia Sukop, Sorin Constantin, Andrew Gotch and Matt Schodorf from 7-10 tonight at Highland Park's MorYork Gallery as part of MOPLA and NELA (Second Saturdays).
For other events this month, check out MOPLA's calendar.
