Man Charged in Shutter Island Meat Thermometer Stabbing
After allegedly stabbing a man in a Lancaster movie theatre last month, leaving the victim in a coma, 39-year-old Landry Boullard was charged today with one count of attempted willful, deliberate, premeditated murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the District Attorney's Office this afternoon.
The incident stemmed from the victim shushed and asked the suspect's female companion to leave the theatre when talking on a cell phone. She left, but brought Boullard and another man back with her. Boullard, who apparently is studying to be an A/C and refrigeration repairman, took a meat thermometer and stabbed the victim in the neck as Martin Scorsese's horror film Shutter Island (LAist Review) played on the screen. Two good samaritans who intervened were also left with minor injuries.
Boullard, who was arrested on Wednesday, has four prior felony convictions out of Los Angeles County, explained the D.A. Two of the convictions, one from 2007 and one from 2000, are for possession of a firearm by a felon. A 1995 drug sales conviction and a 1990 robbery conviction round out the list.
If convicted as charged, Boullard faces a potential life term in prison.
