MOVIE
Tonight the film series Reel Talk with Stephen Farber previews The Greatest with Pierce Brosnan, Susan Sarandon and Carey Mulligan. Guest speakers will be the film producers Lynette Howell and Beau St. Clair. The event starts at 7 pm at the Wadsworth Theatre in Westwood. Tickets are $20 per screening and half-price student rush tickets are available for $10 an hour before each screening.     

READING
It’s the latest installment of Rant & Rave at Rogue Machine tonight at 8 pm. A group of writers are given a topic--this time it’s about secrets--and a time limits. Writers-performers include: Michael Cohen, Charlotte Innes, Lucinda Jenney, Tracie Lockwood, Henry Murray, Brian Norris, John Pollono and Rhonda Talbot. Tickets: $15. And if you bring a past-due bill from the past two months, get $5 off your ticket.

MORE MOVIES
There’s a special screening of the White Stripes documentary Under the Great White Northern Lights tonight at 7:30 pm at the Egyptian. The film follows the band across Canada in 2007 and their 10th Anniversary show.There’s a Q&A with director Emmett Malloy, too. Tickets: $11, students/seniors are $9 with ID. Posters, prizes and surprises are promised.

BOOKS
Tonight authors Mark Gluth, James Greer and Dennis Cooper read from their latest works at 7 pm. It’s part of Cooper’s Little House on the Bowery tour to celebrate a line of fiction books that concentrate on younger North American writers who believe that fiction can be as “entertaining, challenging, revelatory, and, in a word, important as any other medium.” Featured titles are Gluth’s The Late Work of Margaret Kroftis, The Failure by James Greer and Cooper’s own Ugly Man.

DANCE
The Annenberg Beach House presents a site-specific dance creation workshop with choreographer Holly Rothschild tonight from 6:30-8:30 pm. Participants will explore the Beach House with Rothschild, record their impressions, and be assigned a specific task to participate in and co-create a short original performance. This workshop is open to all ages and no dance experience is required. Wear comfortable clothing.

BOOKS
Tonight Esowan Books hosts the presentation and book signing for Are You Brainwashed: The Marketing of Black Inferiority 21st Century Style with media guru Tom Burrell. The discussion begins at 7 pm.
