Brown on Whitman's Job Elimination Plan: 'Consultant-Created Fairy Tales'

Now that Attorney General Jerry Brown is officially in the race for Governor, he's taking shots at Meg Whitman, who he could face on the November ballot. Whitman will go up against state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner in the June primaries.

To Brown, you can't always relate corporate experience to political experience. "The political process is about civic engagement, not autocratic executive decision-making in the corporate suite. The two have virtually nothing in common," he said to the AP, referring to how a Governor must work with the sometimes hostile legislature, not hand-picked employees.

Whitman's spokesperson said the public is "looking for someone who's created jobs, who's balanced budgets and provided leadership that comes from the private sector. Meg Whitman will go to Sacramento, change the status quo and bring in badly needed commonsense leadership." Whitman also wants to cut 40,000 state government jobs, which Brown calls "Consultant-Created Fairy Tales."
