TV Junkie: NBC Wants the Olympics Beyond 2012; Sheen Causes Problems for CBS

We're watching a lot of Canadian TV up here at the Olympics and while it does have its own problems with some spotty commentary, the wall to wall coverage is impressive. Since we're not able to watch NBC it was with interest we read today's AP summary which included comments from Universal Sports exec Calude Ruibal who states that NBC will be bidding for the rights to the Olympics beyond the 2012 games - say it isn't so!

While NBC's Universal Sports might be the best place to catch decent coverage in the US, it's available in less than 10% of US households. The network would have to experience exponential expansion for this to be a viable option for Americans. In the meantime it would be great to see someone else take on the Olympics because just about anything would be an improvement on what NBC has done for at least the last 6 years. Firsthand experience in seeing what is available in another country illuminates how badly we have been shortchanged by NBC.

Looks like Charlie Sheen's stint in rehab has the potential to create severe problems for himself and his show as it might mean his contract could be revoked not to mention the fact that production will probably be going on hiatus and therefore affecting CBS' scheduling.
