As many expected, Santa Monica College named and their Board of Trustees approved Jennifer Ferro as General Manager of 89.9 KCRW, the campus' public radio station and NPR affiliate. Ferro, the station's current Assistant GM, replaces Ruth Seymour, who announced her retirement last November. Seymour's last day on the job is February 26th, marking the end of her over 32 years at the station and an undeniable force in KCRW's rise to prominence in the local and national stage.

Said SMC President Dr. Chui L. Tsang of Ferro's appointment: “Jennifer epitomizes the perfect mix of traditional public radio experience, and the strategic and creative new media thinking that will be critical to KCRW’s continued success in the years ahead.”

Ferro, the Asst. GM since 1997, began her career at KCRW in 1994, and has worked in all areas of the station’s operations, including programming, marketing, new media, technology development and fundraising. She calls this new position "a dream job."
