TV Junkie Interview: George Duran - Host of TLC's Ultimate Cake Off

There are cooking shows, cooking competition shows, cake shows, and cake competition shows but none of them ratchet these elements to the extreme of TLC's "Ultimate Cake Off": nine hours to make a cake at least five feet tall for an actual event with a real client, and real people waiting to eat it, oh, and just $10,000 on the line.

The second season of "Ultimate Cake Off" started this month (Mondays @ 10pm) with a new host, the chef and author George Duran guiding us through the battles, disasters, and successes. You may already be familiar with Duran as he's been host of the Food Network's "Ham on the Street" and "The Secret Life Of…" before taking over the reins of "Ultimate".

We had a chance to get Duran's insight on the show as well as: his take on the cupcake mania that has swept Los Angeles; a couple of his favorite restaurants in Los Angeles; and an overview of his comfort food book Take This Dish and Twist It.

TLC's "Ultimate Cake Off" is on tonight at 10pm - for more information on George and his book, check out his website.
