The case against Prop 8, which banned gay marriage in California, in federal court finished last week and it's safe to say, however may Judge Vaughn Walker rule, this is not the end. Appeals will definitely be made and all signs point indicate that it will be the backers of the Prop who will be making the appeal. Perhaps the writing was already on the wall during a pre-trial hearing when the Prop 8 folks asked for a summary judgement:
Judge: “I'm asking you to tell me how it would harm opposite-sex marriages.”
Pro-Prop. 8 Atty Cooper: “All right.”
Judge: “All right. Let's play on the same playing field for once.”
Cooper: “Your Honor, my answer is: I don't know. I don't know.”
"The plaintiffs put on a spectacular show-trial of irrelevant evidence, calling to the stand many 'expert' witnesses to testify that allowing homosexual marriage would: help local governments raise more tax revenues, help gay and lesbian couples to accumulate greater wealth, and improve the self-esteem of homosexuals," wrote Prop 8's General Counsel, Andy Pugno in a blog post. "But those are political arguments for society to consider, not legal support for the claim that the US Constitution contains the right to homosexual marriage. The courtroom is simply not the proper forum for what is clearly a social, not a legal, appeal."

can’t help but dwell on this video ban. it’s one thing to have large groups of ignorant people be manipulated into caring about something for long enough to vote on it, but it’s rage worthy to deny those ignorant people the ability to see behind the motherlovin curtain.
it doesn’t matter if team h8 is smacked down 150 times this week, like the smoking lawyer said in ‘Prop 8 Gay Marriage Trial, Explained’ this is only the first step. which ever side loses is going to appeal, take it to a higher court or whatever and start again. regardless of how intensely Team Totally Right spanks the h8rs, all that’s going to matter is that they lost. and because ignoramos aren’t being bombarded with the visuals they’re not going to care how embarrassingly they lost, just that they did. they can blame homowitchmagic, they don’t have a lovin clue.
the entire thing should televised, not so that team h8 can be recognizable, but so that the idiots at home can see how they were used and manipulated, so they can see how the proponents of legalized hate don’t have a decent statement to make when faced with an individual educated person as compared to a mob of fanatics. the stupider they act in court the more frustrated i get about this restriction, at this point they’re probably just practicing to see what doesn’t work for the appeal.
